The shipyard’s inhouse innovation team has been working on the concept for a hydrogen powered fuel cell system specifically for sailing yachts, which consists of a number of high-pressure hydrogen bottles and a fuel cell of about 100 kW. The generated energy will be sufficient to power the onboard hotel load: quietly, sustainably and emission-free.

An ‘Approval in Principle’ has been honored to following a hazard identification (HAZID) study, which was executed together with Lloyd’s Register and external experts. The goal was to uncover and identify risks and determine the effects of exposure to a hazard while also providing suggestions for mitigating risks. It was concluded the concept is safe and advice was given for the next steps in the process.
